Wiley Henderson Faw was born in Ashe County, NC 30 Sept., 1889 and married Effie Goodman March 8, 1908. They had 12 children. They moved to Virginia in the1920's and Virginia A. Faw was born 11 September 1926 in Bluefield, Virginia and she is the only other living relative. They lived at several places and as my mother recalled, they lived at White Gate and moved to Little Creek in about 1931. They farmed, ran a farm and sawmill and store and he was evidently a deputy sheriff then for Southwest Times gives his death in April 1946 as having been one for 15 years. They must have moved to Back Creek in 1944 to be near Roy Summers' farm as this is the date on the deed. I can remember his having returned home and suffering from inoperable cancer. A newspaper gave the death as 23 April, 1946 and included L.R. Summers along with 5 others as active pallbearers and 45 as honorary pallbearers. Another paragraph stated: “A resident of this section for many years, Deputy Faw has marked himself a well-liked citizen and has served as a law enforcement agent for 15 years. During this period he also established himself successfully in the sawmill business and as merchant and farmer. His home is in the Back Creek section.” Wiley and Effie’s children:
